This project is approaching some of the concepts being considered for The Sound of Memory.

In Summary, 500 unsuspecting twitter accounts are being monitored and the content is filtered, analysed and re interpreted into a musical stream, in real time.

This connection of social media behaviours and music deals with conversation and context rather than memory but the compositional technique is not dissimilar to what is proposed for TSOM. It is interesting to note the composer has “locked in” an orchestral palette, no doubt to facilitate the connection with Britten Sinfonia.

Nice to hear how the concept works.

Interesting idea that explores the interpretive process of images – very much aligned to the part of the project that is looking into the media for meaning – also interesting that it requires and audience to ‘operate’

Now if it were code based that could be handy.

mobile device media extraction

There will be numerous techniques for extracting the audiences digital memory, from the obvious facebook app style of share/dump, any other share subscriptions (flicker/twitter/vimeo/instagram streams) the individual members may participate in….. how many do I accomodate?  Further to this, how do I have an opt in extraction of raw media from the devices?

Here’s a few apps I need to look at how they do this:

iDownload

Anypush

This looks particularly interesting as it can facilitate a ‘many to one’ upload (to collect raw device media from the audience) or a ‘one to many’ narrowcast (to distribute the resulting artifact)

Is this too apple-centrict, yes but the code may be portable to android – is this needed though?
